"MY CARBON FOOTPRINT"
This report is to discover your carbon footprint, i.e., how much carbon dioxide “greenhouse gases” you individually contribute during this semester.
This report has to be five typed pages long, double spaced with supporting documentation attached. Include endnotes/works cited page too.
I suggest looking at and saving your gas bils, water bills, etc., gas mileage driven during this semester and calculating how much CO2 gases your vehicle or mode of transportation also contributes to your carbon footprint.
Also, consider the amount of plastics you use during this semester. Plastic bottles for water, for example, require energy to produce them, and energy to transport the bottle to your local store, etc. Be as creative and thorough as possible.
Use various sources in your research and provide documentation in your paper.
At the end of your paper, I want to see the actual amount of CO2 you contributed with supporting documentation showing how you arrived at this figure.
Try this web site for starters: http://www.conservation.org/act/live_green/carboncalc/Pages/default.aspx?gclid=CNeS0Ia9u6ACFQaiagod7zVLSQ
Some additional sources of carbon:
1) Washing/drying clothes,
2) Dishwashers,
3) Various electronic devices (toasters, coffee makers...),
4) Cell phone chargers,
5) Computers/printers,
6) Incandescent v. fluorescent lights,
7) Plasma TVs.
